Gadget site

We found a gadget oriented website at http://www.thinkgeek.com/. It advertises itself as the seller of stuff for smart masses. Some interesting items today:

A
cellphone signal extender. This is just what the name implies.

How about a
microscope that allows you to turn the ordinary into the extraordinary for hours of fun and learning?

What if you could
walk and type at the same time?

Visit the site to see more interesting stuff.

Mobile social networking

Recent information indicates that mobile social networks are making inroads into our day-to-day lives. WebCubic has said that for a while now and our technology team has embraced this notion. With the advent of smart phones (like the blackberry and iPhone), mobile social networking has become almost vital to many people.

For example, over one million people have downloaded the FaceBook for blackberry application. Millions access FaceBook from browser enabled mobile devices. Devices are available today to enable people to surf the web, take and share pictures, stream video, text, tweet, communicate, and make social connections.

The primary user base today are people in their teens and twenties. Being able to write on people’s walls, share pictures, send messages, see where friends are, is central to how people interact with others.

Here are some ways that people use mobile devices to interact:

- mobile uploading of photos
- send status updates to Twitter and FaceBook
- write on walls and send messages to social networks
- email, messaging, etc.
- web surfing
- real time traffic and directions
- see where my friends are located and what they are doing

And the significance? Mobile social network is still in the infancy stages in North America. Most have yet to embrace the advantages that make people’s lives easier and increase busines.

IETester

We recently heard of a product, IETester, a free browser that allows you to have the rendering and javascript engines of IE8 beta 1, IE7 IE 6 and IE5.5 on Vista and XP.

The software may be unstable because it is only an alpha release.

Find out more by checking out http://www.my-debugbar.com/wiki/IETester/HomePage

There is another emulator at http://www.browsrcamp.com. It is not a full emulator but produces Safari results in a manner like screenshot.

Twitter or not

Should you use Twitter? Here are some business reasons to do so.

- A way to understand social media
- Learn new things from other professionals and experts
- Promote your products and services
- Ask and answer questions
- Share tips and tricks

For real estate professionals, Twitter can be used to post where you may be or that you are with a client to view a specific property, etc. So it can even be a "safety" thing.

There are others but these sound like good reasons to Twitter.
